Discover MDT watchmaking
At MaisonDuTemps, we have always strived to offer the best to our customers, at the best price. The watches in our first collections were equipped with Seagull TY2809 skeleton movements for several reasons. Firstly, skeleton movements are rare, and finding one that combines functionality, successful aesthetics, and adequate dimensions is no easy task. Fortunately, the Seagull manufacture, one of the largest in the world, was able to meet our demand.
The Seagull movement has proven its worth in our MTAlpha collections (now out of catalogue) as well as in the MTBeta Skeleton and MTBeta2.0 collections. However, while these Chinese movements have proven their value, and despite the fact that they are not cheaper than Miyota movements, they still have a bad reputation among some watch enthusiasts. This is why we have decided to now equip our watches with movements from the Japanese manufacture Miyota.
To date, we want to offer our customers what they desire, provided it meets our quality criteria. For example, we launched an automatic skeleton men's watch model, the MTZeta Skeleton, equipped with a Miyota movement. Although the skeleton finish is less beautiful in Miyota than in Seagull, the movement offered more precise adjustment, which led to our choice in favor of Miyota. This choice satisfied both our customers who already owned a Seagull skeleton watch and new customers looking for a Japanese skeleton model.

Miyota Automatic Movement
Let's talk about Miyota automatic movements, because we often hear about them in consumer requirements, but let's find out why.
Miyota movements have this reputation because they have inherited the Japanese exacting standards from which they originate. Whether in their operation, through the durability of the mechanisms, the ease of servicing them, but also in their highly precise adjustment.
But we can also talk about their aesthetics. They have also inherited a minimalist style with often few details or finishes for classic movements. However, they have the particularity of offering a highly qualitative perceived value. Nevertheless, we can observe some more elaborate movements such as the 8N24 skeleton or the 8215 open heart, which offer more elaborate finishes, such as chamfers or finishes on the bridges specific to Miyota.
But where does this reputation come from? The reputation of Miyota movements comes from several different factors that are all reliable.
Firstly, for decades we have observed the rise of certain Japanese watch brands at affordable prices, such as Seiko, Citizen, and Orient. These brands have succeeded in proving the quality of Japanese watchmaking through several different movements.
We have also witnessed a surge in certain luxury brands such as Grand Seiko, offering watchmaking quality comparable to that of the greatest Swiss houses.
This is why, at MaisonDuTemps, we have now chosen to equip our watches with Japanese movements, to meet the demands of our customers and at the same time to demonstrate our move upmarket, in order to offer watches of exceptional quality at an unbeatable price.

Seagull mechanical movement
Seagull Movement
MaisonDuTemps and Seagull Skeleton automatic movements, a story with a taste of victory. Indeed, as explained previously, we chose to equip our first collections with a Seagull skeleton automatic movement because it met all our specifications, such as: aesthetic finish, adjustment, power reserve and especially the opinion of customers who were delighted.
Seagull has the reputation of being the largest manufacturer of watch movements in the world, with hundreds of thousands of movements produced per year. Obviously, they do not exclusively produce mechanical movements, but also a great many Quartz movements.
Whatever the case, Seagull holds an important place in watchmaking. Although its reputation is sometimes tarnished by the fact that it is a Chinese manufacturer, Seagull has made a lot of progress in the design of its watches.
We can see many brands equipping their mechanical watches, or even chronographs, with Seagull movements, such as Pierre Lanier, Seagull 1963, Beijingwatches...
Despite many evolutions on their part, and especially proposals for quality movements, MaisonDuTemps now aims to create watches according to the demands and needs of our customers. Thus, we will now put aside Miyota movements for our new creations, unless they offer in their range the perfect product that we seek to integrate into our watches.

Quartz Movements
Miyota Quartz Movement
Watchmaking is a passion that can appeal to all audiences, meet all demands, all needs and fortunately, all budgets. It is for all the reasons stated above that watches with Quartz movements exist.
Quartz can be the enemy of some automatic movement enthusiasts who consider quartz to be low-end, uninteresting, or for other reasons of their own. However, at MaisonDuTemps, we firmly believe that Quartz is a safe bet, which is why quartz enjoyed great success in the 1980s, when all manufacturers wanted to switch from automatic watches to quartz watches. For example: Rolex with their sublime Oyster quartz or even Audemars Piguet with their Royal Oak Quartz.
We know and are the first to affirm it, quartz is the most reliable movement in the world with only a few seconds of deviation per year, a power reserve of several years (depending on the battery and the movement) and finally, it is a robust movement, which does not magnetize and which has little risk of seeing an axis or a pivot broken.
Given that quartz movements are very thin, this allows us to create thinner, smaller watches. Quartz also offers us access to many technical complications; indeed, it is easy and inexpensive to add a complication to a quartz movement, such as a chronograph, a moon phase, or even a calendar complication. Thanks to these very low-cost movements, we have the possibility of offering these products in our range to allow young enthusiasts or enthusiasts who do not have an infinite budget to allocate to the purchase of a watch, the possibility of buying a watch with a complication at an affordable price.
At MaisonDuTemps, for our quartz watches, we have chosen to once again trust the Miyota manufacture to equip our watches. To date, we only have two Quartz collections, the MTGamma collection and the MTGamma Chronograph collection.
The Art of Time by Maison du Temps
Behind each timepiece lies a story of precision, craftsmanship, and passion. Whether it's an automatic watch with a fluid movement, a chronograph designed for performance, or a skeleton watch revealing the beauty of its mechanism, each creation reflects a unique vision of time.
The men's watch collection perfectly illustrates this philosophy: elegant, assertive, sometimes audacious, but always true to the brand's watchmaking DNA.
At Maison du Temps, we consider a watch not just an accessory, but a statement piece — an extension of the style, movement, and personality of the wearer.
